HOLLYWOOD THEATRE
Outfitting Vancouver’s Hottest Venue
Supplying A/V and lighting solutions for the renovation of the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver meant outfitting this venue with the equipment needed to function as the newest, multi-purpose “it” destination for movie screenings, live shows, and educational events. We were asked to design a powerful and versatile lighting system that could serve multiple modes of use within the venue.
Our challenge was creating a fully modern and functional solution that didn’t detract from the existing character of the theatre’s classic 1935 façade. The space also needed to be flexible enough to swap from a movie house, to a live event, and beyond.
We saw this as an opportunity to make this a true multi-purpose space with first-rate ETC components. This called for an LED-based lighting rig using ColorSource Spot fixtures, new house lights controlled by Paradigm, all of which were integrated with cinema-quality audio visuals. The front of the building was illuminated with Desire XTI exterior fixtures. We also used Paradigm controls to integrate the building's existing lighting in the cocktail bar. This system offers extreme versatility, including power and dimming options and central controls.
The result was stunning! We were able to breathe new life into this heritage building which now serves as a cultural landmark in Vancouver. It’s currently the hottest cocktail bar in the community and already has a reputation in the live music industry as a “first-class place to play.” This venue showcases the importance of not cutting corners when integrating new and old systems.

Bfly
Giving butterflies a place to land
The distinctly vivid colours found in nature go beyond what the human eye can see, spanning much more than just the visible spectrum. Our challenge for this project was selecting products that could provide the realism needed to do mother nature justice.
When supporting 20k with the design and development of the Bfly project we used the latest WUXGA laser projectors with a 1DLP dark chip set. With the help of our integrator XYZ Technologies we were able to bring the butterflies to life in each of the five unique activity areas: the butterfly aviary, indoor treetop course, three-level play area, climbing zone and maze of mirrors.
Making it the perfect place for secret missions and magical adventures!
